Strength Training

Build the strength your goals demand — and stay strong for decades.

The Approach

This isn't about looking good for summer.

It's about carrying your kid up the trail this weekend. Returning to your activities after surgery. Running again without knee pain. Showing up to a peak knowing your body is ready for it. And — yes — getting up off the floor at 90.

That's what strength training is really for. And it requires a different kind of program than what most gyms offer.

As a Clinical Exercise Physiologist, I build programs that strengthen your body for the things you want to do now, while protecting it for the things you want to do for decades. Injury prevention isn't an afterthought — it's the foundation everything else is built on. Whether you're 35 or 65, whether you've been training for years or you're starting from scratch: this is for you.

"The research is clear: strength training 2× per week + high-intensity work 1–2× per week. That's the formula backed by the largest longevity studies."

Strength training with proper form

Returning From Something?

Coming back is its own discipline.

Post-injury, post-surgery, postpartum, or coming back after time away. Returning to strength training deserves real expertise, not a generic plan.

CSEP Clinical Exercise Physiologist and Pre/Post-Natal certifications. I work with people through these transitions all the time.

"I am so thankful to be working with Anneke on my path to recovery, and beyond to my full health potential. A debilitating injury to a spinal disc resulted in sciatica so severe I was unable to look after myself for several months. I lost significant function, and fear of re-injury demanded a level of expertise that could build me back up while supporting me in a safe way."

"Anneke has a high level of education in exercise physiology and years of experience. I immediately felt safe with her. Her programs are thoughtful, individualized, researched, and focused on my needs. Every week I am stronger and my confidence in my physical self is growing. I know if I keep following her direction, I will regain all my function and meet all my goals."

"Anneke is a gift to the Cowichan Valley and I have no doubt that she can assist in anyone's injury recovery."
